Tram Museum

The Tram Museum, a part of the Helsinki City Museum, is housed in the city's oldest tram depot, which was founded in 1900. The exhibition of the Tram Museum, which was recently renewed, is devoted to the history of Helsinki public transport connected with trams, numerous related exhibits and transport databank.

The Tram Museum presents the history of public transport in Helsinki. The most remarkable exhibits are surely old trams. First horse-driven trams and open carriages, which were very popular among the locals in summertime, for the last time appeared in the streets of Helsinki during Summer Olympics of 1952. In the carriages the visitors can see dummies of passengers, drivers and conductors. The exposition includes the professional cloth of tram drivers and conductors, special tools and devices, which were used in different periods of the tram history.
